Why are we against dams?

- Because the mega dams construction provoque deep enviromental, health, social, economic and cultural impacts with short, mid and long term.
- Because Misiones is one of the last remanents of Atlantic Rainforest, a unique biome, a biodiversity hotspot considered as with priority for its conservation.
- Because we know there are a lot of alternative energy options, which arte produced on cleaner and safer ways with less impact.
- Becuse the Misiones citizens hasn´t been consulted.
- Because dams threats to Misiones biodiversity.
- Because dams affects people health. Dam construction promotes conditions for disease outbrakes, as we can see on the last 10 years because of Yacyreta dam: dengue, leishmaniasis, yellow fiber and schistosomiasis.
- Because dam constructions are against the 41th Article of the Argentinean Constitution "All citizens have right to a healthy, balanced environment, promoting the human development and productive activities that satisfy present needs withouth compromise the future generation needs; and have the duty to preserve it. Any environmental damage will generate the obligation to fix it as a priority, accordint to the argentinean laws.
The argentinean authorities will protect this right, and the sustainable use of natural resourses, the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage, biodiversity, and environmental education and information.
It corresponds to the national authorities to dictate the legal norms wich contains the minimal specifications of protection, to the provincial authorities the legal norms to complement the national norms, without alter the local jurisdictions
Is prohibited the entrance to argentinean territory of radioactive, dangerous or potentially dangerous waste."
